This time I will keep a recording log and post it in english and german (Deutsche Fassung siehe ein bischen weiter unten). This way I hope to keep all my English & German-speaking fans happy 🙂

The Story in English:

The project started. Step number one: Record base tracks for all 10 songs. This is not too hard as little mistakes don’t matter. And the process allows making some changes to the arrangements I so far had in my mind. A few hints here and there from Nigel were quite helpful.

The tracks are made for the other instruments that I want to have creating the right atmosphere and helping to tell the stories. Nigel is a very nice guide and motivator and very effective. He keeps an eye on the cost and my budget. Nigel is a Pom and I enjoy his British humor.

Not only will he record the songs but also co-produce. He has more than 30 years of experience and has produced records and CDs for musicians or bands such as Seaman Dan

Anyway, after 8.5 hrs of work I still felt exited but tired too.

Das Projekt ist angelaufen.

Der erste Schritt ist das Einspielen von Basistracks aller 10 Lieder.  Das ist nicht so schwierig, da man sich hier ruhig verspielen und falsch singen kann.  Auch erlaubt dieser Prozess Aederungen des Arrangements vorzunehmen und neue Ideen mit einzubauen.  Diese Basis dient dann fuer das Einspielen der anderen Instrumente, die ich haben moechte, um eine bestimmte Atmosphaere zu erreichen. Als Unterstuetzung halt, um die Geschichten musikalisch zu erzaehlen.

Nigel nimmt einen dabei gut an die Hand; er ist ein guter Motivator und sehr effektiv. Zeit ist (Dein) Geld, sagt er immer wieder. Er achtet also auf mein Budget. Er nimmt die Musik nicht nur auf, er spielt auch Schlagzeug, hilft mit den Arrangements und tritt als Co-Produzent auf. Sein britischer Humor bringt mich oft zum Lachen.

Wie auch immer, nach 8.5 Std. Arbeit im Studio bin ich zwar noch gutter Dinge, aber doch auch recht muede.
