Australia’s Burning & Back to recording in 2020

The disastrous and horrific images of the Australian bush fires, brought to us by TV and social media, are hard to forget. As far as I am concerned they got stuck in my brain.

For a songwriter like me the best to deal with this is writing a song about it. I have done exactly that. Together with the band the song has recently been recorded and images for a music video have been added. Our goal is to get donations flowing for the koala hospital (https://shop.koalahospital.org.au) as their destiny clearly is a catastrophe.

Recent developments

After our move to Brisbane from the Far North, after buying and renovating a house, after traveling to Germany several times due to a sad family event and after settling in with my new band The Fuse (please see previous post), the songwriter in me returned.

9 new songs have been written and arranged with the band since 2019. The songs are about Jesus coming into a pub, the nerve wrecking attempt to call customer service of a large company, my homage for a road side cafe in the Daintree, a sarcastic view on refugees rotting on an island and Australia’s horrific bush fires.

Two more songs are in the making and then it is back to the recording studio. Although – one song has already been quickly recorded – “Australia’s Burning”.So is 2020 the year of my 4th CD?  If you watch this space I will keep you updated.
