Back in the recording studio

What is there better to do for a songwriter than to return to the studio recording new songs in times of Covid-19? Luckily, traveling within Queensland/Australia is permitted and fortunately Qld does not have any new Corona cases. So I packed up two guitars and flew to Cairns to record 13 new songs at Pegasus Studios with Nigel Pelgrum. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel_Pegrum)

Basic song arrangements have been worked out before with my band The Fuse (best team ever). We should have all traveled to Cairns but circumstances made it impossible to do so. So I went on my own and recorded vocal and acoustic guitar tracks.

While the guitar tracks didn’t take that long to record, getting the best out of me singing and telling the stories and messages of my songs was a much harder job. But that’s why I work with Nigel. As done before for my previous album “Yarmouk”, Nigel makes sure I give the best I can to interpret the songs properly, running the risk that I want to kill him if he says “one more time” again. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Nigel, being not only a very experienced sound technician but also a drummer, added drums and percussion. He will now come to Brisbane to record bass, lead guitar and keyboards. Special instruments, back ground vocals, final touches and mastering will then be done in Cairns again.

Once again this is a great journey and I can’t wait to see more and more colours added to the “master pieces”. Watch this space.
