Music Production, Studio recording, Wolf's Tales

Back to the recording studio for album #5

It seems to take me 2-3 years for me to write enough material for a new album. So this year in May/June I went up to Cairns again to record my parts/tracks for a new album at Pegasus Studios.

This time I wanted it to be a band album rather than “just” a Frank Frikker one. It will be a Wolf’s Tales album this time. Please see my blog Jan.21.

As usual I worked and recorded with my producer friend, sound man and drummer Nigel Pegrum . This time then band’s bass player, Pete Hill, also traveled to Cairns to lay down his tracks. Pete so much more than a bass player as he also plays guitar and piano and is a wonderful songwriter himself. He contributed 2 songs to this album. You’ll find him here.

Cairns is a lovely and almost paradisaical place and hence a great environment for creative work.

And in between my lovely wife, great supporter and super woman Renee had fun hitting the drums so Nigel could set up mics and sound levels for recording. Of course Nigel did all drum and percussion tracks himself.

Due to other projects and traveling overseas we had to take a brake over the winter months. Nigel then came to Brighton/Brisbane this September to record all lead and e-guitar tracks contributed by our 3rd band member, Steve Bedford. Steve is an unbelievable tasteful guitar player able to offer all styles from finger picking to rock, blues and jazz.

Later this month (Oct.) Nikki Doll and Lybbi Brockenshire will once again add lovely vocals and harmonies. Lybbi joins me for a first ever rock ballad duet I have written. Some piano tracks here and viola tracks there will complement the work. Hopefully a good mix is ready end of Oct. So, watch this space.
